Made it to first stop, Benevento

It was cold, it was wet, it was windy – but after spending a lovely few hours in Caserta with my excellent host Francesco and his friends (they all took turns holding the bike while I tried to put it back together), I was finally on my way on the first ‘proper’ bit of my trip. 40km later and I arrived wet, shivering but delighted to be met by Massimo on a busy stretch of road. 5 mins later with bike packed away in the garage and I was just beginning to realise how much Massimo was going to look after me – my own apartment, a REALLY blissful heater, dinner and breakfast provided; just what the weary traveller needs! Sorry no photos, camera has already packed in…
